Microscope LED Upgrade
Our microscope LED upgrades, also known as halogen to LED conversion kits, can extend the life cycle of your current microscope. Users tend to become attached to their machines, and this upgrade option allows them to take advantage of new illumination technology, without having to part with a much loved and familiar system.
In these circumstances the microscopes are well cared for, so the optics and moving parts will be functioning well. These upgrades allow users to strengthen the weakest part of an older system and give it a new lease of life. (Please note these upgrades are for microscopes with external lamphouses, that can be removed from the main body)
The main benefit is moving to reliable LED white light, and away from inefficient yellow halogen illuminators.
Our microscope LED kits consist of two parts. Firstly, a made to measure replacement interface for the microscope to mount a new LED to. Secondly a flexible LED solution, that includes choice of bulb types, kelvin factors and colour wavelengths. Plus, the desktop on/off intensity controller and multi region PSU. All the upgrades shown here have been completed previously and are available to purchase to integrate to your own machine, complete with fitting instructions.
Upgrading to LED illumination has many advantages.
- Halogen bulbs are being phased out. Sourcing new ones can be difficult and expensive.
- Halogen bulb output degrades over time. LED lights have a lifetime consistent output.
- LED bulbs last longer and use less electricity to run, therefore more cost efficient.
- LED units have a better CRI colour rendering index through whiter kelvin factors.
- These upgrades bypass internal wiring, which on older machines may have become unsafe.
- AN LED upgrade is cheaper then purchasing a whole new microscope.
Also featured here is the Starlight LED Lamphouse replacement. This is a purpose made Halogen lamphouse upgrade and is adaptable to fit the main microscope brands. Lecia, Nikon, Olympus, and Zeiss. It’s a premium product so is more expensive than our own versions, but if it’s in budget, it’s a recommended and powerful solution. It comes with options on kelvin factors (colour temperatures) and a UV wavelength version is also available for special applications.
These upgrades are available for microscopes with external, transmitted or incident light sources only. If your applicable microscope model is not featured here, please do contact us and we can advise alternative solutions or even make one for you. If you have a laboratory full of older microscopes that you would like to extend the life of, please contact us for a bulk purchase quotation.
