MICROSCOPY AND VISION SYSTEM SPECIALISTS

Microbiology Tuition Microscope

Microbiology Tuition Microscope
Best Scientific have completed the installation of a new microbiology tuition microscope package.

Our client reached out to us as they wanted a specifically configured microscope for teaching their microbiology processes to other departments, and train new staff. As always, Best Scientific completed an initial consultation period to fully understand their needs, wants, budget, and concerns, to quote a suitable solution.

Configuration brief:
  1. Replace old Swift microscope with new system.
  2. Predominant use for teaching but must also have routine work capabilities.
  3. Low drive stage & focus control for comfort. (Previous Sift microscope strained their users)
  4. Live monitor included. (Used as a teaching aid)
  5. Image capture included. (To create documented process guides & reports)
  6. Small footprint machine. (Not much space in the Lab)
  7. Only two lenses needed 100x and 10x (Specific to their process)
  8. Low cost and efficient to run.
  9. Easy to use intuitive operation (As will be used by many staff members)
Solution Package:
  • Euromex I-Scope with trinocular head, camera coupler and LED illumination.
  • HDMI camera driven by mouse with built in HD screen.
  • 10x and 100x Dry Objective lenses.
Rationale:

The rationale for this configuration was straightforward. The Euromex microscope provided the ergonomics required for comfortable operation, the small footprint, intuitive operation and with its auto switch off LED illuminator is cost effective to run. (The LED switches off when it detects the user has left the machine)

The HDMI camera with built in monitor provided the teaching aid requested, while keeping the footprint small. This HDMI camera is also standalone so not no need to connect to a separate PC or laptop, again saving space. The camera is controlled by USB wireless mouse with on-screen pop-up controls. (Capture, Exposure, White Balance etc) with images saved to an on-board SD card.

I also recommended a change in objective lens to make the system easier to use for the team. After checking it was suitable for the application, I recommended changing from an 100x Oil immersion objective to a 100x dry version. This keeps the system free from oil, clean and tidy, and is one less microscopy process the team need to retain.  Only two lenses were provided in this nosepiece, a 10x for orientation and locating regions of interest, and a 100x to view that region in higher detail.

Results:

I felt this system completed the brief superbly. I also personally provided delivery, instillation, calibration, and a short session of instruction for the users. Making sure they could hit the ground running with their new microbiology tuition microscope.

If you have specific microscope needs, please do consult with us on live chat or enquiry form. We take the time to understand your application needs, before providing a no obligation quotation to suit.
