Best Scientific recently undertook a retrofit configuration of a Resolv4k vision system for an inspection application at the University of Bristol. The university possessed a high-end F-Mount camera and a high-resolution M-Plan apo objective lens, but required additional optics to complete the system. Through a meticulous process, we successfully integrated the existing resources, delivering a comprehensive and efficient vision system.

Process:

Our initial evaluation identified the need for relevant optics to complement the university’s camera and objective lens. Recognizing the optical properties required for the project, we seamlessly interfaced the F-Mount camera and objective lens threads with modular adapters. To enhance versatility, we incorporated zoom optics for a variable field of view in the middle of the system. This feature proves crucial in high-magnification scenarios, saving time by efficiently locating the region of interest. For finer adjustments in a system with inherently low depth of field, we recommended an in-line 5mm manual focusing module, especially beneficial when working with high-magnification front lenses. The Resolv4k system, known for its superior optics, and high-resolution images.

To ensure stability and user-friendliness, we added a flat mounting clamp for installation on an optical table. This mounting solution securely anchored the entire system, making the fine focus drive smoother to operate. 

Results:

We provided the middle section of the system to utilize the client’s existing resources and demonstrated the complete system with a stock camera and lens.
